UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will wear out and will require replacement. It is essential to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle is a modern-day door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This style door replace window handle is available in a wide range of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The uPVC/composite door handles [knowing it] are constructed of durable materials and are suitable for multi point lock doors that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and work off the same spindle and screw fixings so they can be easily fitted to doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The handle can be placed and angled to suit the needs of all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance will last for a long time. The lever that springs is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for doors with narrower frames, in which the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever is an ideal choice for doors that have latches that can be activated by the thumb turn on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles found on most doors. These handle types can either work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are typically employed on UPVC doors with double glazed windows handles glazing. They are available in a range of finishes and variations.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in several finishes like White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and durability for its intended use.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. They work with a key to unlock a cylinder case which then reveals pins which can be aligned to those in the lock body and permitting them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with external and internal doors typically requiring different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is crucial. It is based on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For instance, doors that are external door handles euro lock must be secured with a higher security cylinder, while doors inside can be secured using the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that increase security, for instance, anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be properly measured to ensure that it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in its position, you can remove it. It is important to avoid having a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The design of the latest cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These features are designed to minimize the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to stop the attack and protect your doors.

Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders, where the break line in the lock is smashed by a tool that is specially designed to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is a faster and simpler method to gain access than through the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which could hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of your door handle. It provides a sprung solution to return the multipoint lock handles to their resting position after use. Previously a lot of handles did not have a spring built into them and without this they tend to droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is removed. This component is the most effective way to solve this issue. It also helps prevent your door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position as they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with sprung multipoint locks. They won't work with handles that are not sprung and you'll need to cut a hole in your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a detailed diagram). They are a replacement for existing damaged or missing cassettes inside the backplate of the door handle for many brands of uPVC doors. They are sold as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
