UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes the handles on your doors will get worn out and will require replacement. In this case, it is important that the new handles conform to the critical dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

A lever/lever handle is a modern door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This style of handle is available in various styles and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

The uPVC/Composite handles are made from durable materials, and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that need a heavy-duty design. The handles are inline and work off the same spindle and screw fixings so they can be easily incorporated into new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be positioned and angled to suit all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the quality of finish and performance over time. The lever that is sprung can be reduced to accommodate a wider range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is situated further back from the door. A lever that is shorter is an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be operated by a thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently to the lever type handles found on most doors. These handles can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are typically employed on UPVC double glazed window handles-glazed doors and come in many variations & styles.

The handles have been tested to at least 200,000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is often a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. After you have identified the correct size of PZ, you will need to ensure that the push and lever pads are shaped to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. They are typically round or square, with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly used on uPVC doors, but can also be found on other types of doors. The cylinder lock is operated with a key that unlocks the cylinder case. This reveals pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock and allow them to rotate the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is vital. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles receive. External doors, for instance, should be fitted with cylinders that are more secure while doors inside can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. In addition, some cylinders are available with extra features that can improve security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump features.

To make sure that the euro door handles cylinder is of the right size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however when this isn't possible, you may remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, therefore it is essential that it is not too long.

Most modern cylinders are constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This will help to deflect an attack and keep your door safe.

Some cylinders are designed to withstand snapping. This is an increasingly common method of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is attacked using a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is faster and more straightforward than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a burglary, which could hinder an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located inside the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their original position after using. The handles had no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was removed. This simple feature is one of the most effective ways to fix this issue and is an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in the open or closed position, since they aren't always easy to manually close by hand.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They are not compatible with unsprung handles, and you will have to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit. They feature an elongated square that accommodates an 8mm spindle and they are supplied individually.
